Up until 1906, lessons had been taught in the village chapel (Bethaus). The new school, for which the foundation stone was laid in 1902, was then used up until the Second World War for classes up to the seventh class. With Count Appony's education law of 1907, German as the mother tongue was forbidden and was offered instead as a foreign language. I believe that the teacher in 1924 / 1925 was Nikolaus BOSCH. During the 1930s there was just one teacher, Matz HENZL for all the classes up until the Second World War broke out. It was only after the war that Uihei school catered only for the first four classes. The teacher then was MAGINTA Ilie from Yugoslavia.The pupils then went on to Alexanderhausen school (a neighbouring village about two miles away) where RADU Petru was the School Director and teacher of the 5th, 6th and 7th classes.

Bis 1906 sind die Uiheler Kinder in dem Bethaus unterrichtet worden. Die neue Schule, deren Grundsteinlegung in 1902 erfolgte, wurde dann bis zum Ausbruch des zweiten Weltkrieges für alle sieben Klassen genutzt. Mit dem Schulgesetz von Graf Appony im Jahr 1907 wurde Deutsch als Muttersprache verboten, und stattdessen als eine Fremdsprache angeboten. Der Lehrer war 1924/25  Nikolaus Bosch, glaube ich. Während der 1930er Jahre bis zum Ausbruch des Krieges gab es nur ein Lehrer, Matz Hendl, der alle Klassen unterrichtete. Erst nach dem Krieg gab es nur noch die ersten 4 Klassen in Uihel. Der Lehrer war Maginta Ilie aus Jugoslawien. Die Schulkinder gingen dann nach Şandra um die 5., 6. und 7. Klasse zu besuchen unter dem Schuldirektor und Lehrer, Radu Petru.

The photo of the schoolchildren was taken in 1936 and includes all seven classes of that time (click on images to enlarge). The names of each child are given under the photograph, which also appears under 'Old photos' in the menu bar on the left.

I was given an old school atlas in June 2005 which had several schoolboy scribbles on its pages from the 1930s, including the signatures of Peter LAMBING, Sepp (Josef) REITER, Josef BALLMANN and Hans SCHUCH. Peter LAMBING gives his address as Uiheiu 64, Poşta Şandra, jud. Timis torontal and has written 'Ackerbauschule Voiteg'  on the back page.

Jemand von Uihel hat mir einen alten Schulatlas gegeben wo einige Namen von Buben aus den 1930er Jahren hinein geschrieben sind, z. B. Peter Lambing, Sepp Reiter, Josef Ballmann und Hans Schuch. Peter Lambing hat auch seine Adresse geschrieben: Uiheiu 64, Poşta Şandra, jud. Timis torontal – und hat auch 'Ackerbauschule Voiteg' auf die Rückseite geschrieben.

Although there are four classrooms, only the first three years (including the kindergarten) attend this school. The pupils now go on to Şandra (Alexanderhausen) or Bogaroş for their fourth year. The building has been modified since it was first built and the entrance is now around the back of the building.

Obwohl es vier Klassenzimmer gibt, besuchen nur die ersten drei Klassen (inklusive Kindergarten) jetzt diese Schule. Für die vierte Klasse fahren die Kinder nach Şandra oder Bogaroş. Das Gebäude ist verändert worden seit es gebaut wurde und der Eingang ist nun hinten anstatt vorne.
